umount: device is busy

Sometimes after mounting some nfs devices, you cannot easily un-mount them. You get some error: “device is busy”. I often get this error when I want to un-mount some shared folders like ‘/home’ and ‘/usr’.The reason is simple: the devices you are un-mouting are busy;) That’s to say some files on the mouted devices are being used by some process.

Error solved: displaying java applets in IE

Instead of using MS java virtual machine, you could install Sun java virtual machine. However, you can easily get error to prevent you displaying java applets in IE. (see http://www.java.com/en/download/help/6000060700.xml)

Recover an unrecognized Maxtor One Touch II 300GB

I got a 300GB Maxtor One Touch II external USB/Firware harddisk driver.

It has been working well. But I found the driver letter was missing this morning for no reason. I tried to check this with WinXP disk management console. It was reported ‘uninitialized’ although the capacity is correctly displayed. Damn it! I have more than 160GB useful backups on it! Of course, one may say you should have double backups, but then I should have at least two big harddisks at hand? Unfortunately,I have only one.
